1.Turret and Turntable Design
The lift has a turret (upper structure) mounted on a turntable connected to the chassis.
The turret carries the telescopic boom, operator's platform, and hydraulic/electrical systems.
The turntable is mounted on a slewing bearing (slewing ring gear) that allows continuous rotation.
2.Slewing Mechanism
A hydraulic slewing motor and gearbox drive the slewing ring gear, which enables smooth rotation.
Because the hydraulic motor can run in either direction without mechanical stops, it supports continuous 360° rotation.
3.Hose and Cable Management
Hydraulic hoses and electrical wires pass through a rotary joint (swivel joint or slip ring) in the center of the slewing ring.
This allows hydraulic oil and power/control signals to flow while the turret rotates freely without tangling.
4.Operational Advantages
Full workspace access: The operator can reach any direction without repositioning the entire lift.
Time-saving: Instead of moving the base truck or chassis, the boom just rotates.
Precision: Rotation plus telescoping boom gives fine control for high or far-reaching tasks.
5.Comparison
Some smaller lifts (like scissor lifts) only go up and down because they lack this turret + slewing mechanism.
Articulating boom lifts and telescopic boom lifts both use the same principle for rotation, but telescopic lifts are optimized for long, straight outreach with 360° mobility.
