Whether a freight elevator uses a double-rail (two guide rails) or a single-rail (one guide rail) structure, both types must be fixed firmly to the shaft wall or supporting steel frame to ensure stability and safety during lifting. The fixation methods are similar in principle but slightly different in design:
1. Double-rail freight elevator
Guide rail layout: Two parallel guide rails (usually on both sides of the platform).
Wall fixation:
The guide rails are connected to the shaft wall or steel frame using guide rail brackets.
Brackets are installed at intervals (generally every 1.5–2.0 m vertically).
Brackets are anchored to the concrete wall with expansion bolts or welded to embedded steel plates.
At the top and bottom, stronger anchor points are used to resist platform sway.
Advantage: Two rails share the load, improving stability, making it suitable for heavier loads and larger platforms.
2. Single-rail freight elevator
Guide rail layout: One vertical guide rail at the center or one side of the platform.
Wall fixation:
The single rail is supported by reinforced guide rail brackets, usually made of channel steel or square tubes.
Brackets are also fixed every 1.5–2.0 m to the wall or steel structure.
Since only one rail bears the load, the wall or steel column must be especially strong, often requiring thicker embedded plates or a welded steel framework for reinforcement.
Sometimes diagonal support braces are added to resist lateral forces.
Advantage: Saves space and cost, but less stable than double-rail, so more demanding on wall fixation strength.
Common requirements
1. Accuracy: Guide rails must remain vertical (deviation ≤ 1 mm per meter, total ≤ 10 mm).
2.Brackets: Interval and material strength must match load capacity.
3.Connection method:
Concrete shaft → expansion bolts or embedded steel plates.
Steel structure shaft → direct welding.
4.Safety: At the bottom pit and top beam, extra reinforcement is added to prevent loosening.
