Cargo lift daily maintenance precautions

Jun 19, 2025

Daily maintenance of a cargo lift is essential for safety, performance, and longevity. Here are the key precautions and steps to follow during daily maintenance:
1. Visual Inspection
Check for leaks:Look for oil leaks in the hydraulic system, especially around hoses and cylinders.
Inspect wires and chains: Ensure wire ropes or lifting chains are not frayed, stretched, rusted, or damaged.
Check platform alignment:Make sure the lift platform is level and stable.
Inspect structure:Look for cracks, deformations, or corrosion on the frame, rails, and platform.
2. Safety Devices
Test limit switches:Ensure upper and lower limit switches are functioning properly of the cargo lift.
Check safety locks/brakes:Confirm that mechanical safety locks or emergency brakes engage correctly.
Inspect emergency stop:Test the emergency stop button for quick response.
3. Lubrication
Grease moving parts:Apply lubricant to freight elevator's guide rails, rollers, chains, and other friction areas.
Check oil level:Inspect the hydraulic oil reservoir and refill if needed. Use manufacturer-specified oil only.
4. Controls and Operation
Test control buttons:Check all control panel buttons and remote functions for responsiveness.
Monitor noise and vibration:Abnormal sounds or vibrations can signal mechanical issues.
Observe smoothness:Ensure the lift operates smoothly without jerks or delays.
5. Cleanliness
Clean the platform:Remove debris, grease, or any load residue to prevent slipping.
Clear pit area (if applicable):Ensure the lift pit is free from water, dust, or obstructions.
6. Load Testing (No Load)
Run empty cycle:Raise and lower the lift without a load to confirm basic function.
Check response time: Monitor the lift's speed and braking performance.
Daily Maintenance Tips
Always power off the system before starting maintenance.
Keep a daily log of inspections and findings.
Report any issues immediately to maintenance personnel or supervisors.
Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance beyond daily checks.
