Do Self-propelled Scissor Lifts Need Outriggers?

Nov 06, 2025

They do not need outriggers if the load capacity does not exceed the rated load of the self-propelled scissor lift. This is because the entire weight distribution of the mobile scissor lift is located at the bottom of the unit, including the battery and pump station. The standard mobile scissor lift has a rated load capacity of 230kg. If a user needs to occasionally lift a 500kg load, it is dangerous. Therefore, outriggers can be added to a self-propelled scissor lift in the following situations:
1. When the load exceeds the standard load capacity of the aerial work platform;
2. When the working environment at height is greatly affected by the environment, such as wind blowing the platform;
3. When the ground beneath the mobile scissor lift is relatively soft;
4. When the ground is uneven;
5. When two or more workers need to work on the platform simultaneously, causing a significant shift in the platform's center of gravity.
6. When the extension platform of a self-propelled mobile scissor lift needs to be made larger than the normal platform.
The above are common situations where it is necessary to add support legs to a mobile scissor lift.
