Lifting Chains Attachment:
Chains are commonly used in chain-driven cargo lifts and are typically part of the lifting mechanism.
1. Top Attachment (Overhead Beam or Drive Unit):
The top end of the lifting chain is anchored to the drive unit (motor and sprocket assembly) or directly to a mounting bracket on the top frame of the lift shaft.
The chain loops around a sprocket connected to the motor or gearbox. When the motor turns the sprocket, the chain moves to raise or lower the platform.
2. Bottom Attachment (Platform or Guide Carriage):
The other end of the chain is attached to the lift platform or carriage frame.
In some designs, a counterweight or a loop-back chain guide may be used to maintain chain tension and reduce slack.
Safety Wire Ropes Attachment:
Safety ropes (steel wire ropes) are used as backup fall protection and are common in rope-driven cargo lifts or as redundant safety in chain-driven types.
1. Top Anchor (Roof Beam or Structure):
Wire ropes are anchored securely at the top of the shaft using a wire rope clamp, end socket, or wedge anchor.
In some systems, they pass over pulleys (sheaves) mounted at the top.
2. Platform Connection:
The wire rope is connected to the lift platform frame using a clevis, shackle, or threaded eye bolt.
Some systems use a safety gear mechanism (e.g., centrifugal governor or overspeed brake) attached to the rope, which locks the lift if it descends too quickly.
Additional Safety Features:
Slack Chain/Wire Sensor: Detects if the chain or wire becomes loose.
Rope Gripper or Speed Governor: Engages mechanical brakes if overspeed is detected.
Buffer Springs or Shock Absorbers: Mounted at the bottom of the shaft to absorb impact if failure occurs.
