How to make the foundation of a two post car lift?

Building a solid foundation for a two-post car lift is crucial for safety and performance. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to properly construct the foundation:
1. Check Manufacturer's Specifications
Each two-post lift manufacturer provides minimum requirements for concrete thickness, strength, and anchor depth. Typically, the requirements are:  
Concrete Thickness:At least 4-6 inches (preferably 6 inches).  
Concrete Strength:3,000-3,500 PSI (some heavy-duty lifts require 4,000 PSI or more).  
Reinforcement:Use rebar or wire mesh to improve strength.  
Level Surface:The foundation must be level to prevent instability.  
2. Mark the Installation Area
- Choose a level, well-ventilated space with adequate ceiling height (usually 12-14 feet for clear floor lifts).  
- Mark out the post positions according to the manufacturer's instructions.  
3. Excavate and Prepare the Foundation
- Dig at least 6-12 inches deep where the posts will be anchored.  
- Create a larger, reinforced footing (often 2x2 feet wide and 10-12 inches deep) under each post for additional stability, especially for heavy-duty lifts.  
- Compact the soil and add gravel for drainage (optional but recommended).  
4. Pour Concrete  
- Use high-strength concrete (3,500-4,000 PSI).  
- Install rebar (1/2-inch diameter) in a grid pattern or welded wire mesh for reinforcement.  
- Pour the concrete evenly and use a screed to level it.  
- Allow the concrete to cure for at least 7 days before drilling anchor bolts, but full strength may take 28 days.  
5. Install the Car Lift
- Once the concrete has fully cured, drill holes for the anchor bolts as per the manufacturer's instructions.  
- Secure the posts using expansion anchors or epoxy-anchored bolts.  
- Ensure everything is level and aligned before tightening.
