The wheels are the most susceptible to wear and tear on stand-up electric pallet stackers (stand-up electric forklifts). Avoiding the following issues during operation can reduce wear on the load wheels and drive wheels:
1. Overloading
Exceeding the rated load will cause the pallet stacker's load wheels to bear excessive pressure. Long-term overloading can lead to wheel deformation, flat spots, cracking, and accelerated bearing wear.
2. Frequent turning under heavy load
When using a pallet stacker to move heavy pallets and making sharp turns, the wheels will be subjected to strong lateral shear forces. This can cause the wheel material to peel off (especially on polyurethane (PU) wheels).
3. Poor ground conditions or rough surfaces
Using a pallet stacker on the following surfaces can accelerate wheel chipping, cuts, flat spots, or rapid tread wear:
Damaged concrete floors
Metal shavings or sharp debris
Expansion joints or uneven transition areas
Embedded tracks or potholes in the ground
4. Contact with chemicals
The wheel material of stand-up pallet stackers (especially polyurethane (PU) wheels) is sensitive to the following substances:
Oils, greases
Acidic/alkaline chemicals
Solvents
These chemicals can soften or swell the wheel material, eventually leading to cracking or decomposition.
5. High-speed driving or frequent acceleration
Driving the electric pallet truck too fast or sudden starting/stopping generates heat in the drive wheels. Heat buildup can cause the outer layer of the drive wheels to melt, peel, or wear prematurely.
6. Improper use of the parking brake or sudden braking
Sudden braking when using the pallet stacker under full load or stopping the vehicle on a slope can cause brake marks on the drive wheels, localized flat spots, and in severe cases, damage to the wheel bearings.
7. Use in cold storage environments
When using the pallet stacker at low temperatures, polyurethane (PU) wheels become harder and more brittle, increasing the likelihood of cracking or surface damage to the drive wheels.
