A freight elevator, also known as a cargo lift or mezzanine lift, is a lifting device used to transport cargo vertically between floors. Its main structural components include guide rails, a lifting beam, and a lifting platform. Drivetrain components include a pump station, hydraulic cylinders, chains, and wire ropes. Electrical controls include an electrical control box, digital display buttons, and limit switches. Cargo lift guide rails are available in C-section steel, H-section steel, or cheaper welded rectangular tubes, depending on the load capacity. H-section steel offers a higher load capacity and will not deform after over 10 years of normal use. They are typically used for freight elevators with loads over 1500kg. C-section steel has a slightly lower load capacity but is more stable, maintaining no deformation for five years of normal use. They are typically used for freight elevators with loads between 500-1000kg. Guide rails made of welded rectangular tubes are the cheapest option. These rails are typically formed by welding rectangular metal tubes together. Their mechanical strength depends on the thickness of the tubes. While functional, they suffer from poor structural stability and are typically only used for freight elevators with loads under 300kg. Since the guide rails are manually welded, there are problems such as large errors and inadequate welding. They are not a big problem in short-term use. Currently, they are only used in some freight elevators driven by electric hoists, and freight elevators powered by hydraulic cylinders are rarely used.
