Why this angle?
Safety for forklifts:
Forklifts need to drive up and down the ramp smoothly with full loads.
If the angle is too steep, forklifts may struggle to climb, risk tipping backward when going up, or lose braking control when going down.
Ease of operation:
A gentler slope reduces engine strain on the forklift and helps maintain stability of goods (especially pallets, barrels, or containers).
It also lowers the chance of goods sliding or toppling during loading/unloading.
Compatibility with different truck heights:
The ramp is designed long enough to create a safe transition between ground level and truck/container bed height (usually 1.1–1.8 m).
The ramp length ensures that the incline angle stays within the safe range while still being compact enough for mobility.
Regulations and ergonomics:
International design standards (such as EN, ANSI, or ISO) recommend limiting incline angles for material handling ramps so that powered industrial trucks can safely operate.
