How do disabled people use a vertical platform lift?

Oct 30, 2025

Disabled people should pay attention to the following points when using a wheelchair lift:
1. Vertical Platform Lift Height:
The platform of a wheelchair lift has a height of approximately 10cm, which is too high for a wheelchair to access directly. Therefore, a pit or ramp needs to be added to the wheelchair lift. The pit is to ensure the platform of the wheelchair lift is level with the ground, making it easier for the wheelchair to move. Ramps are divided into fixed ramps and motorized ramps. Motorized ramps can move up and down with the vertical platform lift, while fixed ramps are directly fixed to the ground floor. Wheelchairs can easily enter the wheelchair lift via the ramp. It should be noted that wheelchair lifts equipped with motorized ramps can only be used on the ground floor; otherwise, they remain raised.
2. Wheelchair Lift Control Panel: Wheelchair lifts are designed for the convenience of disabled or elderly users, so the control panel is only installed on the platform. If needed, users can add landing doors and control panels on the ground floor and first floor. The wheelchair lift also has a remote control. For users with limited mobility, the remote can be placed on the wheelchair to directly control the lift's operation.
3. Anti-touch function: Since it's impossible to see if someone is underneath the wheelchair lift during use, there are two solutions to prevent accidents: 1. Add guardrails to prevent obstacles from entering the bottom of the wheelchair lift; 2. Add an anti-touch base plate so that the lift will immediately stop when an obstacle touches the base plate.
