In a fixed position scissor lift, the "scissor part" (also called the scissor arms or mechanism) is connected to the movable platform-the part that goes up and down-through a system of pivots, rollers, and sometimes guide tracks. Here's a breakdown of how this connection works:
1.Top Platform Connection:
The top ends of the scissor arms are pinned (hinged) to the underside of the top platform.
These pivot points allow the platform to move vertically as the scissor arms open and close.
2.Bottom Frame/Base Connection:
The bottom ends of the scissor arms are attached to the fixed base.
Some arms are pinned, and others rest on rollers that move horizontally in slots or channels as the lift raises or lowers.
3.Rollers or Sliding Tracks:
Often, either the top or bottom ends of one pair of arms include rollers that slide in a track.
This allows for the scissor motion to convert horizontal movement (from a hydraulic or screw actuator) into vertical motion.
4.Actuation:
A hydraulic cylinder, screw drive, or another actuator is placed between the arms or at the base.
When it pushes the arms apart at the center pivot, it forces the scissor to lift.
The lift mechanism works because when the arms form a narrow "X," the platform is low. As the "X" widens (i.e., opens), the height increases.
The movable platform is not directly powered-it's moved passively by the scissor mechanism's expansion.
