Material Handling Pickers

Oct 29, 2025

Material handling pickers come in many types. Based on their drive method, they can be divided into semi-electric and self-propelled electric pickers.
Semi-electric material pickers can be further divided into pickers with outriggers and pickers with integrated outriggers. The length of the outriggers depends on the lifting height. When the height is less than 3.8 meters, the outriggers can be fixed to the chassis to raise the casters and prevent movement during use. When the lifting height is higher than 3.8 meters, the outriggers need to expand the load-bearing area of the chassis, so they need to be extended. However, this makes the already limited space even more cramped.
Fully electric pickers, also known as self-propelled pickers, can be divided into sleeve pickers, rail pickers, and pickers with a picking platform. There is also a pallet stacker integrated picker. These types of pickers are 3-10 times more expensive than semi-electric pickers. Its advantages are very obvious. Due to the addition of a drive motor and battery, its base is very heavy. This allows it to reach greater heights with a smaller footprint. Moreover, when using the self-propelled order picker, users can control the equipment's movement, steering, and lifting from a high position, enabling the retrieval of goods from multiple shelves at once, greatly increasing work efficiency.
