When a fixed scissor lift's platform size exceeds the container's internal dimensions, manufacturers and logistics companies usually handle it through a few methods, depending on the table's size, weight, and the shipping destination:
1. Disassembly / Detachable Design
Platform removal: The scissor lift table is often designed so the platform can be detached from the scissor mechanism.
Frame separation: The lifting mechanism (scissor arms + base) and hydraulic system are shipped separately.
On-site reassembly: At the destination, technicians reassemble and test the equipment before use.
This is the most common and economical method for oversized lifts.
2. Flat Rack Container (Special Shipping Container)
If disassembly is not possible or practical, the lift can be fixed to a flat rack container (open sides and no roof).
This allows shipping of oversized equipment that extends beyond standard container dimensions.
Requires additional securing, lashing, and waterproof covering for sea transport.
3. Break Bulk Shipping
For very large or heavy-duty scissor lifts (industrial capacity, car lifts, or customized large tables), the lift may be shipped as break bulk cargo instead of inside a container.
The equipment is loaded directly onto the vessel's deck or cargo hold.
Typically used for very wide or long machines.
4. Road Transport (for regional delivery)
If the distance is not far, the oversized lift can be delivered by flatbed truck or low-bed trailer without disassembly.
The platform is secured with chains and protective padding to prevent damage during transit.
